Neolithic Weave: An Advanced One-Day Willow Course
This intensive one-day course is for experienced weavers who want to deepen their practice by stepping back into the roots of the craft. Drawing on Neolithic weaving techniques, you’ll explore some of the earliest structural approaches to working with willow - methods that prioritise strength, simplicity, and a deep understanding of material.
This is not a beginner course. Participants should already have a solid grounding in basketry or willow weaving - it’s a complex method where the uprights are also the weavers.
The day offers a rare opportunity to slow right down, strip back decorative techniques, and reconnect with the ancient intelligence embedded in this craft. You’ll leave with a deeper technical understanding, new structural insights, and a felt sense of continuity with makers who worked these materials thousands of years ago.
