Botanical printing on paper workshop Friday 30th May 2025 1pm - 5pm

£40.00

The botanical printing process involves steaming the fabric and leaves or flowers together for 2 hours so the steaming time will begin at 2.30pm- 4.30pm. Whilst waiting for our paper to steam, we can create more patterns using the Hapazome technique - bashing the colour out of the leaf or flower onto prepared fabric. This can be quite noisy so we can also use this time to walk around the dye garden on the willow field.

No previous experience is needed and all materials needed are provided. Please wear wellies if wet weather and wrap up if cold. Hot drinks are provided.

If you’d like to bring leaves along from your own garden, please do- here is a little suggested list of those that we know can work well: Oak, Copper Beech, Hazel, Eucalyptus, Smoke Bush (Cotinus) Birch, Willow, Rose, Fruit bushes and fruit tree leaves, Fern, Maple and Strawberry leaves. Flowers: Hollyhock, Goldenrod, Weld, Dyer’s Chamomile, Dianthus, Dahlia, Dyer’s Coreopsis, Tagetes, Geranium, Violet and Golden Marguerite.

Please bring a packed lunch if you are planning to be here during lunch time. Warm clothing might be needed as we will be in a barn and please wear wellies if the weather is wet so that you are free to roam and forage in the field at your leisure.
